Attack on headquarters of Friendship, Equality, Peace Party

On 23 August 2012, headquarters of Party of Friendship, Equality, Peace (Turkish: Dostluk,Eşitlik, Barış Partisi)(Greek: Κόμμα Ισότητας, Ειρήνης και Φιλίας) was attacked by an unidentified person or a group. According to Birlik newspaper, the headquarters in Komotini was attacked in the evening hours after the office was closed, and the assailants broke party’s sign with stones.

Federation of Western Thrace Turks in Europe (ABTTF) President Halit Habipoğlu said, “As Board of Directors, we strongly condemn the attack on party’s headquarters. In such periof of increasing attacks against the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace, we ask Greek authorities to take comprehensive measures in order to prevent possible violent attacks”.
