ABTTF carried out a study visit to Western Thrace

Federation of Western Thrace Turks in Europe (ABTTF) conducted a study visit to Western Thrace from 28 January to 1 February 2015. ABTTF President Halit Habip Oğlu and ABTTF Board Member Sami Yusuf, who visited the region to commemorate the Community Solidarity and National Resistance Day of 29 January, paid several visits to civil society organisations of the Turkish Minority in the region.

ABTTF met minority representatives in Western Thrace where FUEN Congress will be held

ABTTF President Halit Habip Oğlu and ABTTF Board Member Sami Yusuf conducted a series of meetings on 29 January 2015. Their programme started by visiting Ali Rıza Akıncı, Komotini Consul of the Turkish Republic and then continued with meeting Mustafa Katrancı, Vice-President of the region of East Macedonia and Thrace where Mustafa Ali Çavuş, leader of Friendship, Equality, Peace Party was also present. The following meetings were firstly with Rıdvan Ahmet, Mayor of Ariana (Kozlubekir) and then with Koray Hasan, President of the Union of Turkish Youth of Komotini.

The visits of ABTTF delegation and the leader of Friendship, Equality, Peace Party Mustafa Ali Çavuş to civil society organisations and politicians representing the Turkish Minority continued on 30 January 2015 by firstly meeting İsmet Kadı, Mayor of Iasmos (Yassıköy) in his office. The second visit of the delegation was carried out to vice presidents of Komotini Municipality, Sibel Mustafaoğlu and Ercan Köse. This was followed by a visit to Western Thrace Minority Culture and Education Foundation (PEKEM) where ABTTF delegation came together with PEKEM President Galip Galip. The last visit of the day was realised to the Mayor of Myki (Mustafçova) Cemil Kabza.

During these meetings, the ABTTF delegation informed the representatives and politicians on FUEN (Federal Union of European Nationalities) Congress of 2015, which will be organised by ABTTF, DEB Party and the Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association in Western Thrace during 13-17 May 2015. Habip Oğlu emphasized that it is quite important to host national minority representatives from all over Europe in Komotini as this will significantly help increase the visibility and awareness of Western Thrace and Turkish Minority in the region.

A preparatory meeting was held for FUEN Congress of 2015

The representatives of ABTTF, DEB Party and Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association held a joint meeting on Friday evening with the participation of Koray Hasan, who is the President of the Union of Turkish Youth of Komotini and the Secretary of the Advisory Council of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority. During this meeting, representatives of the organising associations discussed in detail the preparations for FUEN Congress of 2015 in May.
